How the donation works
For every Trans Pack sold, 50% of the price (£3.995 of £7.99) goes to TransActual. That's worked out on the full price you pay, before card and payment processing fees, so the fees come out of our half.
The pack is never discounted by sales or coupons, refunded orders aren't counted, and the total above updates as orders come in. When the fundraiser closes we pay the whole amount to TransActual as a single payment.
Where the money goes
Who are TransActual?
TransActual describe themselves as a "trans led and run advocacy, education and empowerment organisation", set up by a group of British trans people in 2017 and focused on trans adults in the UK. Their work includes:
- creating resources for trans people and for those who want to support them,
- meeting politicians, policy makers and journalists, and campaigning on trans healthcare and legal rights,
- co-ordinating the Trans Health Forum and the Trans Healthcare Coalition,
- running workshops for trans people, and training and consultancy on trans inclusion,
- publishing research and clear information about trans rights, UK law and NHS healthcare.
Why TransActual?
We wanted every penny to go to people who are actually getting things done for trans people. TransActual is run by trans people, works across the UK where Solaris is based, and puts its energy into the things that make the biggest difference day to day: pushing for better trans healthcare, defending legal rights, and making sure trans people have clear, accurate information.
Why a CIC and not a charity?
TransActual is a Community Interest Company (CIC), company number 12772196. In other words, it isn't a normal business: a CIC is a company that exists for the benefit of the community, and has to use its profits and assets for that purpose. It's regulated by the CIC Regulator instead of the Charity Commission.
We picked TransActual because of the work they do, not because of what kind of organisation they are. It does mean we say "50% to TransActual" rather than "50% to charity", because technically they aren't a registered charity. This is a charitable gift from us, and we're not claiming any tax relief on it. On your side, buying a Trans Pack is a purchase from Solaris rather than a donation, so it isn't eligible for Gift Aid.
How the donation is calculated
- For every Trans Pack sold, 50% of the price paid (£3.995 of each £7.99 pack) goes to TransActual.
- It's calculated on the gross price, before Stripe and other payment processing fees. Those fees come out of Solaris's share.
- The pack can't be discounted by promotions or coupons, so the amount per pack is always the same.
- Refunded or cancelled orders aren't counted. Anything raised another way for this fundraiser (for example a direct top-up from us) is added to the total and shown separately in our records.
- The total on this page updates automatically as orders are paid.
When it's paid
Astrofox Studios Ltd, which runs Solaris, holds the money until the fundraiser ends on 30 November 2026, then pays the full amount to TransActual CIC as a single payment. We'll post the final total here once it's been sent.
Affiliation
Solaris and Astrofox Studios Ltd are not affiliated with, or endorsed by, TransActual. We chose to support them; the TransActual name is used only to say where the money is going.
Astrofox Studios Ltd (trading as Solaris) will pay 50% of the price of every Trans Pack sold between 1 November 2026 and 30 November 2026 (£3.995 of each £7.99 pack), calculated before payment processing fees, to TransActual CIC (company number 12772196). The remaining 50% is kept by Solaris.
