This privacy policy explains what information we collect when you visit the Solaris website (playsolaris.net), why we collect it, and how we use it. We are committed to protecting your personal information in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect and why
Website visit data. When you visit any page on this site, our servers automatically record:
- Your IP address
- The page you visited and the time of the visit
- Your approximate country and city (derived from your IP via a third-party geolocation service)
We collect this to understand how many people visit the site, which pages are popular, and where our audience is located. This helps us make decisions about server infrastructure and content. This data is stored on our private servers and is not shared with third parties or used for advertising.
Early Access signups. If you submit your email address to register interest in Early Access, we collect:
- Your email address
- Your selected interests
- Your IP address and approximate location (if you consent)
- The date and time of your submission
We use this to contact you about Early Access, product updates, and launch announcements. We will not share your email with third parties or use it for unrelated marketing.
Applications (staff & tester). Application forms collect personal details you voluntarily provide (Discord username, age, experience). This is used solely to evaluate your application.
Legal basis for processing
We process visit analytics data under our legitimate interest in understanding our audience to operate a viable game service. We process signup and application data on the basis of your explicit consent (submitting the form).
How long we keep your data
Visit logs are retained for up to 12 months and then deleted. Signup data is retained until you request deletion or the service closes. Application data is retained for up to 6 months after a decision is made.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to processing based on legitimate interest
- Lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk)

Cookies
We use a single cookie to remember your preferred light/dark theme. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no cross-site cookies. You can clear this at any time via your browser settings.
Third-party services
- ip-api.com — used for IP geolocation. Your IP is sent to their API when you visit the site. See their privacy policy at ip-api.com/docs/legal.
- Cloudflare Turnstile — used on sign-up forms to prevent bots. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
- Callisto.host — our hosting provider. Server infrastructure is operated by Callisto.host.
- Google Fonts — fonts (Paytone One, Nunito) are loaded from Google's CDN.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service evolves. The "last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
